Taste of Jamaica – Jerk Fest: A Huge Success! 🔥

On Sunday, June 22, 2025, Jamaicans on Vancouver Island Canadian Services Society (JOVICSS) proudly hosted the first-ever Taste of Jamaica – Jerk Fest at Banfield Park — and what a day it was!

The sun was shining, the music was pumping, and the aroma of authentic Jamaican jerk filled the air. Hundreds of people came out to enjoy the food, culture, and community. We were overwhelmed (in the best way!) by the turnout and support.

🎉 Highlights included:

  • Mouthwatering jerk chicken, pork, fish, and corn

  • Traditional sides like festival, coleslaw, and soup

  • Lively dominoes and ludo matches

  • A fun-filled Kids Zone

  • Caribbean music, great vibes, and community spirit

While we did our best to prepare, we humbly acknowledge that the crowd exceeded our expectations — leading to long lines and, unfortunately, some guests not receiving food. We sincerely apologize and appreciate your patience. Rest assured, we’re already making improvements for future events so everyone can enjoy the full experience.

We’re incredibly grateful to all who came out, volunteered, and supported our vision. Thank you for making our first Jerk Fest unforgettable!

🎊 Next up: Jamaica’s 63rd Independence Celebration📅 Sunday, August 3, 2025📍 Location: TBA

We look forward to welcoming you again as we continue to celebrate Jamaican culture and build community right here on Vancouver Island.

With thanks and one love,

The JOVICSS Team🌍 Out of Many, One People
